The McClelland Financial Group's generous clients collected over 200 toys and $500 in cash for CP24 Children's Christmas Wish Foundation.
The McClelland Financial Group and its clients donated over $500 in food which was handed out in time for the holidays by a number of Thornhill Churches including Holy Trinity, Thornhill United and many others, to local families in need.

Dumb & Dumber
I have had many discussions about investment knowledge with my clients. Many, very successful, clients have referred to themselves as “dumb” when it comes to their knowledge of how markets work. Why then do I say they are successful? Well, they understand that they have limited knowledge and have concluded that studying markets is not a priority in life. Working with The McClelland Financial Group, they have followed a solid investment strategy that really does not take a lot of thought. Let's have a broadly, diversified portfolio and invest in all global companies, with some real estate and some bonds, to minimize the bumps along the way. We will re-balance every now and again when required. Otherwise, we will not really pay attention to it. This hands-off strategy has provided for a very comfortable investment experience.
Now, let’s discuss what we in the investment business call the dumber strategy. These are the people who will read the most recent news and locker room talk of the current get-rich-quick scheme and try to find a way to make quick money with no patience and no work. The current drug of choice for these people (pun intended) are Cannabis stocks and crypto-currency. But that does not matter. Name a flavour of the day newsworthy story: “Dot com stocks of the 90's”, “Sub-prime mortgages of 2008”, “Bre-X”, “Nortel”, etc. It goes by many names but has the same look. Some people get rich quick and many, if not most, lose everything.
One of my all-time favorite movies is Forrest Gump. If you have not seen it, go rent it now! It is the story of a simple man who committed to hard work and honesty and proved you can do very well in life doing just this. The world offers so much. You work hard for your money. Don't let greed get in the way.
